Belfast / Nightlife

So hip it hurts, Apartment has established itself as the place to call into morning, noon and night. By early evening you’re lucky if you can grab a table or stool to try its fusion menu and cocktail range. The staff are charming and welcoming, especially if you’re a solo traveller.

Bar 12 caters to an eclectic crowd, from football fans when a big match is on to jazz buffs on a Saturday afternoon. Staff are exceptionally friendly and even the solo socialiser will feel right at home.

Come at twilight, when dozens of tealights are lit and the low-slung leather sofas look most inviting. This is a favou-rite meeting place for media people and professionals. Snacks are served Mondays to Fridays until 9pm and DJs play on weekend nights.

This warehouse space above the very hip Bar Bacca attracts the 20- and 30-something crowd with varied music from hip-hop to house on different nights.

The Limelight is a no-frills student-friendly music venue. Everybody has hung out here from Oasis, Pulp, Suede and the Scissor Sisters when their fi rst hits were just climbing the charts. It’s a popular club venue when no gig is on offer and you never know which off-duty music or media star you’ll bump into here.
