The red Panda is large and busy, benefi ting from a thriving local trade. The service is great and the servings generous. With an extensive list of main dishes, including mouth-watering seafood hotpots from the Schezuan region of China, it earns a rightful place among the fi ne Chinese restaurants of the area.

This is the largest restaurant on the Done-gall Pass, situated in a converted church. The location of the Water Margin means it is very busy during lunch times, attracting many from the nearby offi ce developments on the old Gas Works. The chefs are a mix of Hong Kong and Chinese nationals adding to the eclectic nature of the food, and the high standards of authenticity.

The Welcome restaurant is found in the charming Victorian village area of Stran-mills and has been awarded the city’s best restaurant and take-away three years in a row. Specialising in southern Chinese cuisine, it boasts no fewer than 34 main courses, a wide range of set meals and, to back it all up, they have a generous recommendation by Egon Ronay.
