What other hotel can boast its own museum of ancient Egyptian artifacts (the owner’s private collection), individually decorated rooms featuring unique antique furniture and original pieces of ancient and contemporary art in every room? The hotel’s restaurants are some of the best in the neighbourhood. Even if you don’t stay here, plan to come by on a summer weekend night for cocktails and live music on the rooftop terrace. A grand old dame, the stately Florida overlooks Barcelona and provides unbeatable city views from its perch on the mountain of Tibidabo. Rooms are large and outfitted with the best of everything (fabulous mattresses, cloud-like coverlets, multiple flat-screen TVs…). The rest of the hotel is well worth exploring too. The pool and spa area is great for unwinding, the acclaimed restaurant L’Orangerie is superb, and the night-time jazz bar is low key and highly enjoyable. La Florida has ample meeting space and is often used as a venue for luxurious events.
