A new and stylish hotel overlooking the beach, this is one of several AC-branded hotels in the city. Like the others, it offers impeccable service, fair prices and keen attention to detail. Rooms are simple but decorated in a tasteful modern style. Perhaps their best feature is the views of the beach and Mediterranean sea. The AC Barcelona sits beside the brand new CCIB convention centre. It also has a wide range of business facilities and 13 rooms suitable for meetings of up to 530 people.

Located right on the beach, the stylish Atenea Mar is a stone’s throw from the new CCIB convention centre and just two blocks from the nearest Metro. The hotel itself is clean-lined and well suited to the casual business traveller, although with extras like bike rental and quick beach access, it’s a nice leisure option as well. Several meeting rooms, with wi-fi, are available for groups of up to 400.

Although it’s located just outside the city limits, the brand-new (opened in early 2006) Hesperia Tower hotel is in an ideal location for those who need easy access to the Fira convention centres or Barcelona airport. A 105-metre-tall tower at the southern edge of the city, this modern five-star offers all the comforts, including free wi-fi, a luxurious spa, plasma screen TVs and a ‘pillow menu’. Best of all is the luxury restaurant Evo (open Spring 2006), run by three-Michelin-starred chef Santi Santimaria. Located in a glass dome at the top of the tower, the views and cuisine are both sublime.
