Conveniently located in the middle of the city, this hotel is around the corner from the Queen Victoria Building and Pitt Street Shopping Mall. The rooms are compact, but it’s a perfect bolt hole from which to explore the city. Prices start from $109 a room, making it easy on your wallet. Boasting perhaps the best views in the city the Shangri-La (previously [name]d the ANA) is also a perfect spot for business travellers. All guest rooms have views, so you won’t miss out! In 2004, it won the award for best high-tech hotel as voted for by Hotel Management magazine. Guest rooms are spacious and luxurious. For the ultimate in opulence, check out the grand ballroom adorned with Thai silk walls and Venetian chandeliers.

You’ll think you’ve stepped into a scene from The Matrix with this hotel’s hi-tech feel. (Funnily enough, some of the movie’s city scenes were filmed only a few streets away). But despite its futuristic feel, it’s comfortable and has great deals on apartment-rooms. There are five double storey lofts with kitchenettes and spa baths, a real home from home. Minc 3 is the restaurant and lounge bar and if you feel like nightclubbing, then check out Minc Club, which opens from 5pm Thursday and Friday nights and 9pm on Saturdays.

Rumoured to have the most comfortable beds in Sydney, the Grace is the epitome of style and elegance. With its fabulous art deco exterior and stylish interior, it’s a great base for a Sydney experience. Great location, although no views. It’s also good for business travellers as it’s in the heart of the CBD and has 15 conference rooms (13 with natural light!) and state-of-the-art technology. It’s also worth looking into the bargain off-season rates.
