Shanghai / Accommodation / Good Value

This rather quaint hotel has been well restored to the style of its early days in the late 19th century. It serves as a bit of a backpacker/traveller hotel, but the higher-end suites are lovely with fantastic views of the Huangpu river (especially room 607, if it’s available). This hotel is good for those with business to conduct along the Bund or in Hongkou District. Otherwise it’s a bit of a trek from the main commercial and business districts. Lots of space to stretch out and relax in the old-style guestrooms.

Simple, clean and comfortable, this Holiday Inn is located in a good central spot. The railway station is just a walk away. Speedy internet access is available in the rooms and the business centre. Professional and attentive staff will be happy to help you with local shopping, travel and sightseeing queries. The quality of the food in the restaurants is rather good. However, room service is considered a better option than the buffet breakfast.
