For live jazz in Itaewon, this is the place. Some piano starts off in the evenings, followed by jazz bands to hot things up. Occasionally GIs from the nearby US base come up for a jam. Food is also served.

This is unique. A basement wine bar in the pretty district of Samcheong-dong, it offers a European ambience with its low ceiling, candles and relaxing decor. A fresh spring trickles into a pool over the raw rock face that forms the back wall. Some nights a guitarist adds to the atmosphere.

A very stylish and relaxing place with a well-stocked bar, candles, low lighting, DJ and some attractive female scenery. The owner/manager, Kang Mi-ok is both charming and honest. While many Itaewon bars have well-deserved reputations for ripping guests off, here a ‘ladies drink’ costs £11. It’s up to the lady in question whether things progress further.

A terrific brewpub. While every other Seoul micro-brewery offers only German/ Czech-style beers, this one serves the gamut—British ales, Irish stouts, German wheats, Belgian whites and some more unusual styles. There is also a larger, three-storey branch near Gangnam subway station, just outside Exit 8.
