Osaka / Nightlife / Bar

The very first Irish bar in all of Japan, Murphy’s [open]ed back in the 1980s and still packs them in. In addition to Guinness and Kilkenny on tap, there’s a great selection of cocktails and pub grub. Live Irish music on Wednesday nights.

Fans of live rock and folk music will definitely want to check out the Cellar, which offers live music Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Groups are local Japanese and expats looking to make it big. Beers and cocktails cost from £2.50.

Forget maps and street directions. Tin’s Hall requires a bit of searching, and a phone call to the management, but it’s worth it. The cheapest drinks in town and a very lively mix of locals and expats make this one of the few bright spots in the otherwise glum Tennoji night scene.
