Located on a quiet street just south of Utsubo Park, La Verdure du Vietnam is one of the city’s finest Viet[name]se restaurants, specialising in the cuisine of Hanoi. The chicken coconut curry, or the Viet[name]se beef stew, are served in a quiet, informal atmosphere. The Viet[name]se beef and chicken noodle soup (pho) is highly recommended.

Tex-Mex is the speciality, and the barbecue spare ribs are said to be the best in town. The Mexican side of the menu includes the usual nachos, enchiladas, etc and, frankly, there are better places in town. But for those who miss a Country & Western atmosphere, or want some good American microbeers, Lone Star is a great place.

Osaka Joe’s is the place for Florida stone crabs—not surprising as it’s the Osaka branch of the famous Miami Joe’s, once frequented by gangsters and movie stars. The Osaka branch features stone crab set menus, with clam chowder, fresh bread and desserts, that start at £40 per person. The atmosphere is nautical with Dixieland jazz playing in the background.

Outback Grill features charcoal-grilled steaks, lamb and meat dishes, as well as swordfish steak. Prices range between £4 and £5 for appetisers and £5 and £10 for main dishes. The atmosphere is Down Under, complete with boomerangs on the wall. Service can be poor and the Western tourists are a turn-off, but the food makes up for it.
