This dark and moody nightspot is known for its quality cocktails and crowds of bright young things. C operates a selective door policy, so dress cool.

Retro rock-n-roll bar squeezed in between the jaded pole-dancing emporiums on Wan Chai’s Lockhart Road. Popular for ‘ladies night’, when women get two-for-one, then take turns gyrating on the bar. Presents regular live music and is adorned with an unconvincing display of rock memorabilia.

Rowdy music venue in an area with a concentration of small bars and restaurants. Bands vary wildly in style and quality, but a mixed crowd is generally guaranteed.

Vast video screens relay all the sporting action at this half-timbered underground hotspot, and the place fills to capacity during major matches. Autographed equipment from famous past sporting figures, like Ian Botham and Boris Becker, line the walls. Well known for its excellent curry buffet.

A contemporary club with impressive Japanese-Chinese interior, catwalk models and local celebrities make a bee-line for Dragon-i. They receive complimentary champagne cocktails and access to the exclusive VIP area. Lesser mortals look on.

Hard to find but well worth the effort, Drop welcomes sophisticated clientele to its Scandinavian minimalism. Music is supplied by local legend DJ Joel Lai.

Officially an Irish pub of the sort found all over the globe, but also features sporting coverage of football and rugby competitions. Spacious, friendly and busy, with jet-fresh draught Guinness, snug seating and stodgy food.

Impressive and popular bar perched above Felix restaurant. Sleek service and well-mixed martinis lubricate a mixture of wealthy hotel guests and less well-heeled observers. Great view from the gents.

When everything closes, the hip crowd heads to Home, where they know they’ll find like-minded clubbers stretching their last legs on the sweaty dancefloor. Welcomes a mixed gay and straight crowd.

Cool and refined, Jewel sets out to be superior and succeeds, when busy. Minimal oriental design, high prices and a strict doorman keep the riff-raff at bay.

Notorious nightspot with a long history of loose behaviour. Lots of fun for young men and women under the liberating influence of alcohol. Fearsome bouncers patrol the entrance and keep order in the bar.

Officially a private club, but it grants access to those deemed appropriate by the discerning doorman. Serves an older crowd and has the emphasis on light conversation as opposed to hard-core drum beats. Opulent interior design and a well-regarded wine and drinks list.

Grubby all-night underground party place and girly bar that offers a glimpse of seedy old Wan Chai. Male patrons enjoy feeling harassed by the flocks of eager Asian members of the opposite sex. The place goes wild on Sunday afternoons.

This faux fur celebration of the world’s top cocktail is packed every night with eager revellers. Zebra prints and tiger stripes dominate. More lounge than dance venue, it serves a mean Martini.

Despite its live music venue status, The Wanch is as laid back, warm and welcoming as any local pub. A regular clientele, some whom have been around for years, squeeze in to the place for a chat and few pints.
