Italian mosaic floors complemented by warm wood panelling give this hotel its chic look. A real boutique hotel, it has just 10 bedrooms over two floors and blends in with the nearby homes. You almost expect a Great Dane to come loping across the lawn. The interior showcases local materials and handicrafts, especially the carpets. The coloured stonework may not be to everyone’s taste, however.

Located in the centre of the business district, close to the Vigyan Bhavan convention centre, this is one of the newest hotels in the city. Possibly thanks to the inspired Conran & Partners design, it has become a social magnet. Mist, its new coffee shop, complements Agni, its slick bar. Its restaurant, Fire, produces fusion food that works, such as a risotto flavoured with pickle spice. It’s run by Priya Paul—smart, savvy, global, tough and good fun.
