It’s very hard to get a proper pizza in Beijing, except here. They’re made in a wood-fired oven and taste like they would in Italy. If you’re not up for pizza, there are a number of other specialities.

A passionate but balanced blend of East and West, Aria has received numerous awards for the quality of its food. The bar is on the first floor and a discreet staircase leads to the restaurant above.

This is Beijing’s best French restaurant for the price. That price isn’t always low, but you get what you pay for. There are plenty of menu offers throughout the year and you can even get fresh oysters. The food is generally of high standard and the restaurant delivers.

Justine’s is up there with one or two other French restaurants in Beijing, but this is the oldest at 21 years and it’s still a classy dining place. There are no wrong choices on the menu and they even serve snails and foie gras. If you’re on a budget, come for the set lunch menu which will cost you less than £18. A bargain!

The food here isn’t French but Belgian, although you can still get your pepper steak with fries and moules frites. The best reason to come here is not for the food but the numerous kinds of Belgian beers in stock. Expect to pay a premium to savour them in Beijing, though.
